Mertech is happy to announce its latest offering, Flex2SQL for PostgreSQL v10.x. The v10 drivers contain a number of significant enhancements, most importantly a new intelligent data fetching mechanism to improve performance. Here are some of the new features offered in v10.x:

• Performance improvement through intelligent data fetching

  With the v10 series drivers in the Flex2SQL product line, Mertech is introducing an Intelligent Data Fetching mechanism that optimizes data fetching and network roundtrips to the server. This mechanism is self-tuning and the user doesn’t have to do anything to initiate or to optimize it. The longer you use the application, the better it gets.

• Elimination of .TD file

  We have optimized the file opens using just the INT file so much so that we eliminated the need for .TD files. When using the v10.x driver with applications migrated with older drivers that support .TD files, the .TD files will be ignored. However, you can turn on .TD file support by adding TableDefinition=TDFile in the mertech.ini file.

• Global Configuration File

  With this release, Mertech is introducing an industry standard use of an INI file to configure initial driver behavior without using macro commands. The mertech.ini file allows users to turn new or older features on or off without using macro commands. This means that users do not have to recompile their application to take advantage of new features. There is only a single INI file for all drivers and the format allows a configuration to be set for every driver.
